Another Week
Welcome to another week of the SLF. I was in the district for a couple of days last week and boy things have dried out since I was last there. I’m guessing the farmers are feeling a little frustrated as the season was looking so good. Let’s hope for any sort of rain soon to get the spring back on track.

Lids can’t see
Armand “Lids” Duxson and his lovely girlfriend Marcia solved an interesting problem on the weekend. You see Marcia just rented a house in Bendigo and they went to move in and found out there was no power, no gas etc. Rather than wait around they decided stuff it and went to Melbourne for a naughty weekend.

Royal spectacular
Not in a long time has the “Royal” golf championship been so exciting, I’m told by one of my spies that Phil “Lucky” Reading, Trent “Irons” Carter and Josh “About to make the move” Reading are all around the mark with Stewart “Smacka” MacPherson and Greg “Golfer” Reading 3 or 4 shots back. It looks like an exciting finish as there is one round to go. I’m tipping the strongest mind on the day will win and I’m also tipping that there will be a fair bit of practise as well. One of the fore mentioned five has been doing some secret putting practise out on the back scrapes this week. It’s one of the most prestigious sporting trophies in the district and I know that all in contention will be hell bent on winning. I might have to be there and see the action unfold.

The old chook in the ute trick
Marnoo West grazier Mark “Pest” Raggatt had an interesting passenger in his ute the other day. He was driving around the paddock innocently checking the sheep when low and behold a chook jumped out from behind the seat. You see the “Pest” left the window down overnight and the chook (as any chook would do) jumped in and decided to take up residence for the night. Anyway I’m sure our friendly farmer for the West will be checking that all window are up and the end of a hard working day, unless of course he enjoyed the company of his passenger.

This old cat is purring
I know one cat fan that would be crowing from his perch, that cat fan is non other than Graeme “Old Maaaaaaate” McNolty. The old Corowa taxi driver would have a grin on his face from ear to ear but he must remember that they have two games to win yet.

Straight sets
My team Yarra went out of the finals in straight sets after finishing second and being favourites all year. I don’t know what happened but you will have the chance to ask President Glen “Wally” Brear when he attends the Corporate Cup at the Royal.
Back on old stamping ground
It was good to seen former Glendemar Manager Geoff “Bronco” McDougall back in the district, he is currently doing some contract work at Glendemar and is staying in his old house. He, Kylie and Aaron are now living in the central NSW town of Warren where he is doing contract sheep work in the district.

That’s all for this week
