Another week
Hello and welcome again to another week of the SLF. Boy does time fly, how fast has the year gone so far, you wouldn’t believe it is nearly cricket season again.
The Cats
The lads are celebrating down sleepy hollow way, what a win and a proud moment for the local cats supporters. One such cat supporter who now resides over Corowa way would be over the moon with the result, in fact SLF favourite and former publican Graeme “Old Maaaaaate” McNolty would have had grey hair when they last won the premiership back in 1963!
Famous names
Other famous locals that follow the cats that spring directly to mind are Norm “Polly” Duxson, Peter “Goggin” Gibson and John “Wade” Cameron but the most vocal of them all would have been former Kanya resident Geoffrey “Ablett” Wallace. The elation would have been worth bottling in the Wallace household around 5pm on Saturday, it would have been lemon squash’s all round.
One for the future
Now I don’t want this going to the young lads head but I recon I witnessed a cricketing superstar in the making last Sunday at “Jack” Cameron’s residence, his grandson Brylie “Son of de Mayor” Cameron has got an eye like a dead fish and will be smash many country cricketing attacks all round the park. This is my prediction, his old man recons he has a lot to learn and his grandfather recons he hits too many in the air but could he be Marnoo first test Cricketer??? His mother will kill me for this.
Sheep Shaggers
It’s ram sale week and there will be plenty of “Sheep Shaggers” around the district this week, keep your eye out for some South Africans and South Americans, they do know how to party.
Rain Wanted
Things aren’t holding on to bad around the area, put it this way there are plenty of areas across Australia’s rural landscape that are a lot worse, all we need now is rain to fill the heads with nice plump grain, so that all the natives can cash in on the record prices that are on offer.
Lunch a lot
Last Friday a lunched with Callawadda’s most famous Toorak resident Sandy “The Know All” McGregor and Damian “The Major” Drum at a fine dining restaurant (Those blokes payed my way) in the city of Melbourne. Well Lunch dragged on into the darkness and the last bloke you want to see after going at it for 8 hours is Murray “Muzza” McGregor. You see when most of the normal people (I would class myself normal) are ready for bed big Muzza is ready for play. Anyway he kept our pre Grand Final lunch alive until midnight.
In top form
It’s amazing who you see out and about on Grand Final weekend in Melbourne. I came across a famous Stawell resident who was totally plastered and had a little wet stream running down his tailored pants. This bloke who will remain nameless but I will say he had the score on the board!!!!
See you at the Corporate Cup
