Hello again
It’s nearly the end of March and every district farmer is looking skyward wondering if it’s ever going to rain again. In this game you have to be an optimist, so in that case the breaking rains are not that far away.

Order your Lamborghini now!!!!
If you listen to American finance guru Jim Rogers then you would certainly have the rights to be excited. He said that the fund managers, banker etc would be driving taxis not Lamborghinis in the future and the ones that will be driving the Lamborghinis would be farmers because they produce “real” things. Anyway don’t listen to me go to http://www.ausfarmonline.com.au/docs/more-from-jim-rogers.pdf and check out the transcript of the interview he did with George Negus on SBS. Image John “Jack” Cameron getting picked up from the pub in “Fayzies” shiny new red Lambo!!!!

All the rivers run
Banyena stalwart Peter “Boccy” Burn is renowned for his cheeky side and when he went to former Banyena native Damian “Major” Drum’s new house for a visit he asked a cheeky question. He asked in front of his new bride to be “Now Pa (they call him Pa after Pa Kettle out Banyena way) which way does the water run when you jump in the pool”. An embarrassed “Major” gave him an evil glare and quickly changed the subject.

Quote of the week
I heard a quote this week that farmers could relate too. It came from Guru Nyngan (NSW) sheep breeder Peter McKid. He said “the only money we can make is the money we save”. How true is that one in time of lower commodity prices.

Wrinkly Jumper
A naive member of the Yarrawonga/Mulwala cricket club couldn’t work out the difference between a sheep and a woolly jumper!!! You see my fellow Yarra resident Dwain “Daryl” Duxson was trying to explain to his fellow cricketers about these wrinkle free merinos and how you breed them. This young fella said “that would be easy just use the iron to get the wrinkles out”. It’s not that funny but the thing is he was serious.

Get on now
Some of you would know legend Yarra resident Glen “Wally” Brear from the Corporate Cup or some of you may have even seen him pole dancing at Paula Duxson’s 40th. Whatever the case the manager at Pistols Tavern (my watering hole) also doubles as Yarrawonga Football President and I cornered him late last Saturday night and he said that they had recruited that well over the summer that you should “Get on”. You can now bet on country footy on Sportsbet and last quote was $6.50 for the premiership.

Can’t keep a good man down
Legend Marnoo cricketer Derek “The Mayor” Cameron has once again taken out Marnoo’s cricketer of the year despite being in his 42’nd year. What a great effort.
