Where has the year gone?
It’s probably something I go on about alot but where has this year gone? Must be having too much fun! A quiet news week this week with not much to report, it’s like my spies have been gagged!!!!
A horizontal farmer
We mentioned a couple of weeks ago on the Facebook site that Marnoo West farming icon Brian “Farmer” Healy was told by his trusty advisor Andrew “Clown” Newall to go back to the couch for another month. Well if it doesn’t rain soon the leading farmer will horizontal for a while yet!!!!
Smokin and drinkin
I have been uploading some old school photos from the 70’s on the Facebook site and it’s interesting to go through the list and see where they are now. One such story tickled my fancy, I was talking to my fellow Yarra resident Dwain “Daryl” Duxson the other day about the photos and he tells the story of Barry Casey who used to smoke in class and go to the pub at lunch time. Imagine if you did that now............................
Cricket over bring on the golf
The natural progression for many a cricketer is to put the bat away and polish the 1 wood in anticipation of the golfing season ahead. On paper it looks as though it is going to be a ripping season with Norm “Guru” Duxson back at the helm as President. He takes over the role from Graeme “Grey Skies Above” Ellen who held the post for the last two seasons. “The Royal” with its new looking clubhouse will have water when they decide to connect the new pipeline.
Mini (Wine) bar
Local celebrity and leading Marnoo East machinery dealer Nigel “Winebar” Slee and his adorable wife “Chook” are expecting their first. Try and wipe the smile of Winebar’s face, he is happy as a pig in you-know-what. A couple of dirty nappies will keep him honest...
Farming the next boom industry
I can just hear SLF favourite and hall of fame member John “Jack” Cameron saying “Square Leg is off his nut” when I mention the above headline. But if you read three articles on the Ausfarm Online website under “interesting stuff” you will get a little excited. Go to www.ausfarmonline.com.au and have a look.
Mr Asia
The new titty show Underbelly certainly has taken off and the connection to New Zealand is well spelt out. Hence the reason why many a local are calling local pig farmer and former Kiwi Gary “Mr Asia” Baker just that, “Mr Asia”. I don’t think he got up to the same shenanigans as the real life character but the name has stuck.
Gone missing
This would be about the first time that hall of fame member Stewart “Smacka” MacPherons wasn’t mentioned in despatches. Oops I mentioned him, just forget you read this piece.
End of message
