Hello and welcome to another week of the SLF. I don’t know about locally but in this part of the world (NE Vic) the frosts have been spectacular lately. All this has led to a drying out of the topsoil, although not desperate we all wouldn’t mind and inch or two. But we can’t complain too much I was in WA last week and boy is it dry over there, it’s green down south but nothing really for the sheep to eat and the crops are struggling. If I thought that was bad I was in for a rude shock when I went North of Perth, just bare and dusty, the natives have never seen it like this, dust storms in June.

I’m told the royal had a healthy crowd of 21 turn up for golf on the weekend, that’s a great crowd. I’m also told that former gun Marnoo and Donald ruckman Daryl “Norman” May made it down for a hit. I remember years ago trying to recruit the big fella, I guess some just need more time.

A big contingent is heading to Bruce “Boofhead” Hendy’s favourite course Glenorchy, commonly known amongst Royal golfers as “McBeal” (I have explained it before). The form of the Royal team should see a few of them take home a prize or two, but I’m a little bit concerned because a few of the crew are camping over a Stewart “Smacka” MacPherson’s place and backing up again on the Saturday. Sounds dangerous!

“Richo Richo man, I want to be a Richo man”, that was big Rexie’s call on Friday night as he bellowed the rendition to the tune of the Village People song “Mucho Man”. Top win by my team The Tigers and it has been a long time coming but I will really enjoy that half a dozen stubbies I won of St Arnaud celebrity Jamie “Sheedy” Douglas.

I missed the game myself after a longish lunch with former Callawadda native Sandy “The Know All” McGregor and newly crowned Landmark St Arnaud joint owner Damian “The Major” Drum. I’m told The Know All doesn’t do the long lunch quite as often as he used to but it’s good to know he’s still can.

You can’t hide around this joint there is always someone around. This little old struggling reporter was just down at the local tavern having a quiet one or two when Andy “Upstart” Nisbet rocks in. I still only had my couple but I’m told that the young consumer was in top form and made himself well known to the natives as the night went on.

I circulated a few profiles around at Legacy day, just to get a bit of an idea on how your favourite SLF celebrities tick. However I haven’t received too many back, in fact only one. Here is the profile of John “Be My” Guest:

SLF Name: Be My or Major Mitchell. How would you describe your personality? “Strange” That’s my family’s opinion. What would your friends say about you? Strange, Weird and adventuress. Late or Early? Remember to tell your friends about the blog, you can also add your comments if you like, go to http://thesquarelegfiles.blogspot.com

That’s about all and remember what Henry Ford said, “Thinking is just about the hardest work of all, that’s why very few engage in it”
