Hello and welcome to another week of the SLF. I made a return to the village on the weekend and I would have to say that things in the district look exceptional. As someone said it may just turn out to be the perfect year. The perfect year would be good start, dryish winter and wet spring, dry harvest, good prices and yield and good sheep and wool numbers. We are on the way!!

I attended the “Royal” legacy day and a great day was had by all. The course, well that is in absolute magnificent condition and conducive for good golf. A crew from Stawell took the honours with some impressive numbers, 13 under the card. They are “Tiger” type figures.

I was impressed with the welcoming from Presidento “Graeme “Grey Skies Above” Ellen. I think we all knew he would do a wonderful job as head honcho.

The favourites performed at Legacy Day with the usual consumers coming to the fore. SLF legend “Norm “The Guru” Duxson was in top form after teaming up with Chris “Entanglement” Webb, Geoff “Bronco” McDougall and Peter “Numbers” Knights. They were seen on a regular basis sipping away at the Green Ginger wine during their round.

The arrival of “Mr Plod” didn’t surprise anyone as one likely lad spotted the uniformed one from a long way out. A couple of mature young gentlemen decided to give a rear end welcome. Let me say that Mr Plod was not to happy.

Armand “Herbie” Duxson was another one in good touch, so much so that he started feeling a little crook when he got home.

I’m told that a couple of Reading lads stumped the fire early on Sunday morning.

My Yarrawonga mate Dwain “Duxsy” Duxson also made the return trip back for the event, he told me that one thing he doesn’t attempt these days is driving home on Legacy night. He recons his record isn’t to good.

All the talk is the reunion in July, some organisers are talking 500 as an attendance figure. If that is the case then it would nearly be the biggest night ever seen in the village. I’m sure the stories will be tall as the members of the 1987 premiership team start sprouting.

At least my team the Tigers didn’t get beaten over the weekend!!
