Hello and welcome to another week of the SLF, I managed to return to the village for a couple of days and catch up with quite a few natives. Boy has the countryside changed since I was over last, let’s hope by the end of this week we can be gasping in the glory of another inch or two.

Good to see Armand “Big Herbie” Duxson back after his adventurous journey overseas, he said he had a great time and boy has he lost some weight. When quizzed about losing the kg’s he said “don’t worry that will be back on soon”. Sure he didn’t spend all of his time Ethiopia!

He’s a cunning old fox is Norm “Guru Norm” Duxson, he and Big Herbie came in the one vehicle to the pub on Friday night. I recon he wanted the big fella backside planted firmly on the tractor seat over the weekend.

The human headline Stewart “Smacka” MacPherson rang Guru Norm and offered to pick Herbie up at the airport last Thursday. “No bloody way, you blokes won’t be home until Tuesday, I’m picking him up myself, there’s work to be done around here” was The Guru’s reply.

Went to the corner shop on Friday night and ended up staying past my bed time but it was good to witness Gary “Larry” Cameron in good form. I’m told she was a tough trip to Adelaide the next day.

I also managed to get a game in at the Royal and I can tell you it was great to be back. The golfing form was pretty ordinary and I got a towelling by Josh “Callaway” Reading who had a 72 off the stick and is now off a nine handicap. I can now use the excuse of being a greens player and not handling the scrapes but over here I use the excuse of being a scrapes player and not handling the green. I just can’t play that’s it!

Callaway doesn’t make many mistakes, I’m tipping he will give the old fella a run for his money come championship time.

Chris “Entanglement” Webb hasn’t lost it. When he was drawn to play Brendan “Hotwire” Pettitt he said “I’ll take the spark out of the electrician”. And he did!

If Trent “Trentee” Carter was a Darren Weir race horse then “Weiry” would be under great suspicion (again). You see after his 71 off the stick he followed it up with a 90 last weekend. Could it be the Webb factor at work again?

I told that they are planning a footy reunion late in July, the details are scratchy but I will dig this one up for next week.

John “Jack” Cameron doesn’t lose form, you see wife Fayzee (Fay) has to go in for the “other” knee operation in June and Jack said “she will have someone to look after when she gets out, Larry will look after her” What about you I said “have enough trouble looking after myself”
