I have been doing some tripping around over the last week or so and boy is it dry everywhere, I am currently up at Orange and the locals are in a real panic as it is starting to get cold and pasture growth for the winter will be minimal. Apparently all stock trucks are booked out as people unload stock by the truckload, literally. Lets all hope for a good break soon.
They tell me that it was a great day at the Royal on Saturday with “Hank” (Anthony Erwin) and “Entanglement” (Chris Webb) taking the honours in the two man ambrose event with a blistering 2 under the card. I’m also told that there was some massive hitting especially with the strong North wind.
We have “Boofhead” (Bruce Hendy) and now we have “Helmethead” (Paul Hendy) gracing the fairways of the Royal, the big fella has decided to hang up the big boots in what was an illustrious football career with Marnoo, Stawell and for a little time with Donald. It’s great to see the big fella out hitting the little white frustrater, apparently he give them a fair bang as well.
Also out for his first slog was “Larry” (Gary Cameron), now Larry is no slogger, he is more than handy with both woods and irons and will lower his handicap down to single figures in the not to distant future.
I’m told that our old mate “Herbie” (Armand Duxson), who incidentally has lost everyone’s email address, is meeting up with another part time native in “Big Wallace” (Wal O’Connor) in Argentina this week. The locals will need to chuck a few extra sheep on the Asada when these two get together for lunch.
“Trenteee” (Trent Carter) is having a big bash this weekend, his house warming party is expected to be an event not to miss.
Supply of real estate is at an all time high in Marnoo with plenty of dwellings listed, let’s hope that everything sells and that the buyers are of good character.
I went through Corowa this week and saw “Old Maaaaaate” (Graeme McNolty) again driving away in his Taxi, the only thing is he didn’t see me, he looked very busy.
I’m told that the Boorhaman Pub is a very popular place, its a little pub on the Oven River between Wang and Yarra. It first shot to fame some time ago former Marnoo pub owners Jack and Lorna Thompson bought the place after leaving Marnoo. I told the ghosts are still there!
That’s about all for this week.
