Welcome to another edition of the SLF. I have had quite a few reports back from people who have used the blog site. Some have even said it has become a Monday morning ritual.

I spent the weekend back in the district and had the pleasure of attending “The Mayor’s” (Derek Cameron) surprise 40th on the weekend in Horsham. It was mainly a family affair and a couple of friends but it all went well and everyone had a great time none better than the birthday boy himself.

One Famous member of the Cameron family “Jack” was also in good touch, when offered a red wine he refused saying he was only a beer man but he was talked into a sip or two and three glasses later he declared it’s “not bad stuff”

Ex natives Anthony and Lisa Barham where in attendance and had a pretty good time. Anthony was saying his old man Jim was travelling along pretty good and mentioned that Jim had a theory on the season ahead. He uses wind directions on three particular dates early in the year and according to this measure this year will be a good to average.

For some reason the chat around the table got to hair or lack of in some cases, I mentioned to Anthony that he wasn’t travelling to bad, to which he said “you don’t have to jump into a fully mirrored lift every day”

Another ex native celebrated a milestone on the weekend “Brother Geoffrey” (Geoff Reading) turned the ripe old age of 60. In typical style I heard the night lived up to all expectations.

That rainfall that didn’t eventuate on Friday night was disappointing, according to Jack “either I’ve got a big hole in my rain gauge or that bloody Ward Rooney (from the BOM) hasn’t got a clue what he is talking about”

“Smacka” (Stewart MacPherson) has come up with a bewdy once again. He has put pressure on himself by saying he wants to find a bride before Christmas. He said that if nothing eventuated by November he was going to be nervously doing some random cold calling.

I have it on good authority that Shaheed Afridi (one of the players) killed Bob Woolmer, I guess we can only watch as things unfold.

Old “Blue Can” (Leigh Foster) is getting tough with a few of his dodgy customers, one such customer came in on Friday night asking for a packet of smokes and asked if they could pay next Wednesday, “nu I’ve heard that one before” was the reply.

Local consumer “Entanglement” (Chris Webb) is all but hooked on the bowls, he likes nothing better than jumping in the car with the three wise men “Guru” (Norm Duxson), “The Curator” (Alan Wood) and “Greg the Golfer” (Greg Reading) for a days rolling.

It’s good news that “Wily Kylie” (Kylie McDougall) is still going to remain at the Royal even though they are moving North. With due respects to the others I think that about seals the upcoming championships but you never know, funny game golf.
