Another edition
Hello and welcome to another edition of the SLF. My guess is that most of you have been very busy on tractors over the last couple of weeks, hence the reason for the quiet news weeks. But things have picked up somewhat even though I would describe at least one of the stories as “tall”. So let’s get on with it.......

Wine on the pine
I’m told on good authority that the “wine on the pine” night was a huge success with around 50 patrons taking the chance to sample some of the regions finest goon juice. I’m told the lamb souvlaki’s whipped up by Gary “Larry” Cameron and Ben “Glendemar” Duxson were out of this world. It’s just another great initiative by the members of the Royal who hover “under the hand of Guru” and call the “Whitehouse” home.

You’re probably thinking, what the......
That is the “Wine on the Pine” story in Spanish. Yes I’m not sure where that one was going, it was just a tool I found but I happened to think that it was something like the language spoken by the people that were still on the landing at 2am.....

Now that’s a wallet
I heard a story about our Marnoo’s equivalent to Kerry Packer, Norm “Guru” Duxson, but as I mentioned in the opening it’s a bit tall and I have my doubts whether the conversation took place. But it did however remind me of a good Kerry Packer story when a loud Texan was at the black jack table in an Las Vegas casino sprouting about his wealth that amounted to tens of millions of dollars (of course Kerry’s at that stage was on the sunny side of a billion). The load mouth Texan who kept raving about how he was worth 50 million was taken aback from this little known “Aussie” who said “I’ll toss you for it”. That shut him up anyway.

Report just to hand
Hot off the press another report has come in about the “wine on the pine” night. This report said there was actually 60 there and that the theme was Greek (hence the souvlakis). But I’m told that the organisers got the Greeks and the Italians mixed up with Italian music accompanying the Italian flag raising on a Greek theme night. It didn’t seem to worry the “hand in command” (Guru) as I’m told he had a big smile on his face all night.

And the winner is....
Daryl “Norman” May and Peter “Numbers” Knights were the stars of the show during the daylight hours taking out this year’s Banyena Cup in emphatic style. No reports of who won the belt by the end of the night.

Happy being gay
I’m told that a couple of prominent locals unexpectedly ended up in a gay bar in Melbourne recently. One said to the other “I think this is a gay bar” of to which the other replied “Yer nur I’m pretty happy”
