Rain, rain come again
Well it finally happened, it rained! Most of the area received about an inch in the old (at the time of writing, Monday, am) and that will be enough to trigger off the cropping program and get the grass to shoot. If that was the entree let’s hope the main course is coming soon.....
Tigers come good
Apart from the rain another rare thing happened, the Tigers won. But the highlight of the weekend was the Bombers three-goals-in-three-minutes game snatch of Collingwood. Mick wasn’t too happy storming out of the press conference saying his team let the Anzacs down. Well Mick like in war there has to be a winner and a loser and besides I think the Anzacs would have been happy that Collingwood lost!!!
Pete at the top of his game
I had the absolute pleasure last week to witness veteran shearer Peter “Peteee” Newall go about his craft down at Glendemar. But I did have a laugh when his back support broke, “they just don’t make things like they used too” was Peteee’s quick reply to the situation. It had only lasted 19 years!!!!!!
Natives meet in CBD
It’s advisable that when in Melbourne don’t do anything newsworthy or you may end up in this publication because there’s always seems to be a native or two parading around the CBD every weekend. Last weekend was no different when unbeknown to the them two of SLF favourites Stewart “Smacka” MacPherson and Gary “Larry” Cameron were staying in the same hotel as another two SLF favourites in Brain “Farmer” Healy and Murray “Muzza” McGregor.
Farmer travels lightly
Legendary no tiller “Farmer” Healy fills silos as if they where lolly bags year in year out but when it comes to travel he certainly travels light. Apparently he left his overnight stay with a green supermarket bag with a pair of jocks, a shirt and a toothbrush.
Golfing conditions will change
For those that are under-the-hand-of-Guru certainly welcomed last weekend’s downfall, as the golf course will green up and make playing conditions somewhat different. No stories out of the “Whitehouse” as yet but it’s a long year and I’m a patient guy.
Draw’s galore
Thanks to those people that posted me a golf draw, much appreciated. I hope to be back under-the-hand-of-Guru soon and report first hand and live from the Whitehouse.
Please pay within 28 days or.......
Dwain “Daryl” Duxson who is minister for finance at Glendemar was telling me he received an invoice from leading Glenorchy no tiller Stewart “Smacka” Macpherson for some hay they bought a month of two ago. It was just your typical invoice until you get to the fine print. It went like this, “We would like to thanks you for your business but if you don’t pay within 28 days we will send one or Robert Trimboli’s men to cut you off at the knees”. Apparently “Daryl” couldn’t get the cheque there quick enough. Those Glenorchy MacPherson’s are not to be messed with.
