Harvest in full swing
I hear harvest is in full swing throughout the district and I’m told that there are some decent yields around, especially in Barley. It’s a bit different up this way (Yarrawonga) where I would estimate that 90% of the crops have been cut and the other 10% of crops are in the bin. The farmers I know around this district are partaking in some early Christmas cheer.

Cricketers win at home
The MCC had another good victory this time at the famed MCG. Captain Gary “Larry” Cameron led the way with a cracking 48 and was ably supported by Chris “Black” Norton (40), Ben “Grazier” Duxson (30 odd) and Armand “Herbie” Duxson also chipped in for some valuable late runs. Of the bowlers Stewart “Smacka” MacPherson led the way with 3 wickets and was supported by youngster David “Bones” Lang.

Cricket Club flourishing
There are some good vibes coming out of the cricket club as chief innovator Larry Cameron has got the joint rocking. The after game BBQ’s are enjoyed by visiting teams and I’m told the after training BBQ at the corner shop is a real hit with patrons.

Sri Lanka no match for Fruity
Never one to be shy for a comment or two former MCC fast bowler John “Fruity” Nisbet was at it again when he was quoted as saying that he could bowl faster than any of the Sri Lankans. I remember when he first came to Marnoo he was genuinely quick and used to ring the fingers of former legendary MCC wicket keeper Ged “Father” Ryan.

They don’t call him Farmer for nothing
Leading Farmer and chief district no tiller Brian “Farmer” Healy is harvesting some heavy crops according to my district spies.

Who will you vote for?
This weekend Federal election will be an interesting event as almost all the experts are tipping a labour win. I say almost because knowledgeable Toorak resident Sandy “The Know All” McGregor has had some of his hard earned on the Coalition to win and for the Prime Minister to win his own electorate. I know the former Callawadda Primary School Dux likes a bet but he is certainly betting against the so called tide on this one.

No labour for Jack
Marnoo’s best known politician John “Jack” Cameron will certainly be hoping that McGregor gets the money, he only remembers to well the days of Hawke and Keating and let me tell you they aren’t fond memories. You only have to mention Paul Keating to get the former Rupanyup ruckman going!!!

That will do for this week and may your vote count.
