Welcome to another week of the SLF. News hasn’t been plentiful this week so we’ll see how we go.

The reunion is this weekend and I hear on the vine that everyone is looking forward to it. I have it on good authority that the band Clip Clop Club are fantastic and should provide great entertainment. They will be on from 6:30 until 10:30.

For the kids the authorities have organised Slim Tim the Cowboy Clown to entertain the masses from half time in the seniors until 6:30 in the evening. So the kids can look forward to that one.

Let me tell you its tough being a Tigers man at the moment, just watching them make skill error after skill error is enough for even the most committed supporter to turn off. I also spare a thought for my mate Richo, boy does he try hard and what could he have been in a side that could deliver it properly.

I’m told the Wallaloo brigade at the Landsborough four ball event were a hit. They recon it’s been a long time since they have had golfers stay that late. “Just like the old days” was one members reply. Apparently the young crew which consisted of Armand “Lids” Duxson, Stuart “Smacka” MacPherson, Trent “Irons” Carter and Sam “Slammin” Reading stayed behind and entertained the locals. They even topped the night off with the Hill Billy’s in the Landsborough pub and yes they had a designated sober driver.

I heard on the vine that Smacka had a little trouble in Melbourne on Saturday night. You see he went to a football club ball with “Sibbo” Norton and his wife, they went early, Smacka stayed late and when he arrived back to Sibbo’s home he couldn’t wake them to get in. He could see Sibbo sounda on the couch through the window but do you think he could wake him. About an hour later with several mobile calls (the phone was in his pocket) and plenty of banging he managed to wake him. Apparently the first message on the phone went like this “Sibbo just at the front door can you let us in” and the twelfth message went like this “ Sibbo it’s _ _ _ _ in freezing out here would you _ _ _ _ in wake up and _ _ _ _in let me in.

The new smoking rules in pubs are hard to take for smokers at least, one such smoker is our SLF favourite John “Jack” Cameron mentioned that “It’ll be a bloody café next”

I attended a luncheon at Yarra football on the weekend and the great Ron Barassi spoke, at 71 he looks and sounds fit and he entertained over 200 hundred at the event. The Yarra boys are back in form after dropping a couple during the middle of the year. Former Marnoo coach Damien “Walshy” Walsh is starring in the twos.
