Hello again
Welcome again to another edition of the SLF. The Marnoo area managed to miss the rain last weekend, up here in Yarrawonga we had 80mm and the paddocks are all saturated with water lying everywhere. Although the harvest has finished here the farmers I have spoken to are a bit nervous that it might get to wet come winter…. Now that would be a turnaround
La Nina here to stay
My favourite markets man Kerry Lonergan from ABC Landline said yesterday that the La Nina could hang around to the end of the year. No wonder my farming mates up this way are nervous about it becoming to wet. We will have to wait and see.
Rodney Rude hits town
I had a call a week or so ago from gun Wallaloo East farmer Rodney “Rude” Reading who said he was going to be here for the big tennis tournament that is taking place this week in Yarrawonga. I have organised for him to take a few of his tennis cronies out on the barby boat. I also caught up with him on Saturday night at the RSL club, we managed to have a frothy or 6 before it was time to go home.
Winebar 2
Also spotted in Yarrawonga over the weekend was Nigel “Winebar” Slee. He was heading to a party at Rutherglen and called in to a Yarrawonga supermarket where we caught up for a chin wag.
MCC on the march to March
Everyone’s favourite club the Marnoo Cricket Club is just a whisker away from making the finals. They are currently in a good position against Charlton and need only 40 runs next week to snatch first innings points. The last game is against Beulah Hopetoun who are holding up the ladder and if they manage to beat them it’s a crack at the finals in March. So go the Noo…..
That’s all for this week
