Hello again

Welcome to another edition of the SLF. A week is a long time in farming and who would have thought that the whole state would get a drenching like it did over the weekend.  Not to sure about the exact totals but I heard scores of around 30mm locally and up to 70mm over “Headsville” (St Arnaud) way.

Hot weather telling….

The recent hot weather has taken its toll on the local crops with reports that lentils have been absolutely decimated over the last couple of week. I heard that the quality of lentils is only feed quality, which means that it is virtually worthless. Also heard that most barley was going feed. A disappointing end to what could have been a well-above-average-season

There’s a fall

In news just to hand, man about town Gary “Larry” Cameron has taken a fall and broken 3 bones in his foot. At the time of writing it was unclear how it happened. The MCC will certainly miss their vibrant captain over the next couple of month as he goes about the recovery process. Get well soon Larry.

Guru spotted

Our very own Norm “Guru” Duxson was spotted in the Herald Sun attending the golf. He was in the background of yet another Tiger Woods photo. One of my spies spotted it and said it was unmistakable as to who it was. Not sure if “Guru Margie” got a guernsey as well…….

Buy your meat form the butcher

The lovely Belinda Reading sent this through last week. You have to read it to believe it………

That’s all for this week
