Hello again
Welcome again to another edition of the SLF. Well what a week for the district with around 40mm of rain in what would be described as “a perfectly timed rainfall event”. One local farmer described it as “wet” and with more rain forecast for Wednesday of this week our hope is that we can fill some dams and creeks. Especially everybody’s favourite creek, the Muddy Waterholes Creek!!!!!
Welcome Hamish Mitchell Slee
The local couple with the funniest nicknames “Winebar” and “Chook” have just given birth to a baby boy Hamish Mitchell Slee. Of course I am referring to popular Machinery dealer Nigel “Winebar” Slee and his lovely wife Leanne. Son is travelling better than his father when I reported in on the weekend as a group of “unlikely types” turned up to help Wino wet the baby’s head. I talk about non other that Gary “Larry” Cameron, Ben “Glendemar” Duxson, Stewart “Smacka” MacPherson and Armand “Herbie” Duxson. Wooooh what a crew
All well behaved
I’m told from the above mentioned few that Wino was very well behaved and was showing distinct signs of maturity only hours into his new role of fatherhood (lol). But I have it on good authority that plenty of shenanigans went on when the above mentioned crew met up in Ballarat. One stumped the pub, a couple got kicked out and I won’t even mention where another ended up…….
Spring has sprung
With the district getting needed rain at the right time and with some further falls, the season in the district should be a good one. But spare a thought for those who are on a knifes edge and are facing another year of failed crops or next to no pasture growth. The “Muddy” may not be running but we are defiantly in a better position than some….
Ausfarm Online almost there
My Yarrawonga neighbour Dwain “Daryl” Duxson said his long awaited website www.ausfarmonline.com.au is nearly ready to roll. It’s been 8 month in the building and he said it will provide plenty of products and services for the farmers as well as being a platform for Agricultural businesses (like Harberger’s, Johnson’s, Mt Bolungum Grain & Freight etc) to grow and attract new clients. More about it at release time but you can leave you contact details on the interim page that is currently up which will alert you the very minute it goes to air. Watch this space…
Finals footy
We are expecting a exciting finals series in the AFL but who is going to win, well that’s well and truly up in the air. I myself will be barracking for either the Bulldogs or the Saints. The reason being is that it gives us Tigers supporters some hope because these two clubs have also experienced a long premiership drought as well.
That’s all for this week
